Animate OPEN
Jury Award
winner announced
We are thrilled to announce Silent Panorama by Nicolas Piret as recipient of the Animate OPEN Jury Award. Nicolas receives a £1000 prize.
The Jury praised the film as “a very intimate portrait of our changing environment, and an exercise in ‘looking’. Simple and discreet gestures that tell a lot – captivating us, and challenging us to discover the story within the subtle lines of the drawing. It awakens our senses while asking us to observe an intrusion on nature by mankind.”
The Jury gave a Special Mention to Pigeon Holding by Olivia Dugdale, noting that “with thoughtful simplicity and few gestures, the film provokes sensations and makes us think about the relationship between nature and humanity.”
The Jury members were: Lucia Cavalchini, producer and programmer in Mexico, American artist Martha Colburn, and Nobuaki Doi, curator and producer at New Deer in Japan.
All that is solid: the third Animate OPEN launch exhibition is at QUAD, Derby, from 23 January – 16 February 2025. Follow this link for more information.
