Animate Projects premieres new films in Derby this September
Animate Projects is premiering new animations at two special events in Derby in September.
WORK Records at Derby Museum

Artists Saul Pankhurst, Kate Anderson and Kim Noce worked with curators, historians and volunteers to research archive collections at Derbyshire Record Office, Corby Heritage Centre and the John Smedley Archive. Their films explore historic working lives at three East Midlands family firms: packaging company Robinson and Sons in Chesterfield; knitwear manufacturer John Smedley in Lea Mills, Derbyshire; and the Stewarts & Lloyds steelworks in Corby.
The films will be show along with documentary about the project by Derby-based filmmaker Christopher Bevan, followed by a discussion and Q&A, with artists Kate Anderson and Saul Pankhurst, composer Hutch Demoulpied, and John Smedley Archivist Jane Middleton-Smith, chaired by curator and writer Camilla Brown.
WORK Records is made possible with support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, thanks to National Lottery players, and is also supported by Arts Council England.

Roam at QUAD
24 September
Artists Edd Carr, Grace Lee and Birmingham based Sarah Silverwood, have each made a short film inspired by the Right to Roam campaign movement, and its vision of “a future countryside in which people not only enjoy the physical, mental and spiritual benefits of nature but serve as its guardians too.”
The artists will be joined in a Q&A by Jon Moses, writer, campaigner and co-founder of Right to Roam, and Johnny Campbell, folk singer and member of Right to Roam’s Sheffield group.
