Award wins for And Granny Would Dance

And Granny Would Dance took home two awards from Aesthetica Short Film Festival at the weekend, winning Best of Festival and Best Animation. Writer-Director Maryam Mohajer was in attendance and was thrilled to collect the prizes at the awards ceremony.

Yesterday, the short then went on to triumph at Manchester Animation Festival, where the jury awarded it the Best British Short Award.

Coming up, the film screens on Saturday 16 November in the Family Friendly Shorts programme at Norwich Film Festival, where it has been nominated for Best Animated Film. It also screens this month in competition at several festivals, including the London International Animation Festival in the British Showcase, at This is England Festival in France, and at Anilogue International Animation Festival in Hungary.

And Granny Would Dance has also recently been featured in Animation Magazine’s ‘Your Guide to the Year’s Oscar-Qualified Animated Shorts’, thanks to winning Best Short Animation at Rhode Island International Film Festival in the summer. The film is now being watched by the Academy voters, alongside many notable animated shorts.

And Granny Would Dance is a film by Maryam Mohajer, produced by Animate Projects, with the support of the BFI, awarding funds from the National Lottery.
