PLANTING animations launch events

We are looking forward to launching our PLANTING films at community events in Derby in September.

Simon Hamlyn, Lewis Heriz, and Karen Okpoti, have made animations in response to the work of three Derby ‘gardens’. These are: a community garden, the world’s first public garden, and Derbyshire Wildlife Trusts’s urban ‘green corridor’.

We’ll be showing the films, and talking with the artists at:
– Hannah Fields community garden on 13 September, 2-4pm
– Derby Arboretum, as part of the Friends of Derby Arboretum Community Garden Picnic, on 14 September. There will be screenings at 2pm and 3pm.

The films will then be online from 16 September.

Accelerate Session: with the PLANTING artists, Tuesday 17 September, 6pm. The PLANTING artists will in conversation online with artist and curator Chiara Dellerba. Follow this link to sign up for the session.

Accelerate Session: Sustainable practice, Tuesday 24 September, 11am. Led by Lauren Orme, Director, Cardiff Animation Festival, this session will explore sustainable practice in relation to experimental animation practice. We’ll hear about CAF’s Planet Positive initiative, from artists about their approach, and have a conversation about creative power and the potential to contribute to making change. More details soon.
