The Debutante wins at ANIMATOR 2022

We are thrilled to announce that Elizabeth Hobbs’ The Debutante has won the Grand Prix, the Golden Pegasus, at the 15th International Animated Film Festival ANIMATOR in Poland.

The International Short Film Competition Jury, made up of Daniel Gill, Sebastian Ładyżyński, and Emma de Swaef said: “Witty and innovative adaptation of a novella, full of quirky energy, strong on an artistic level.”

As ANIMATOR is an Academy Awards qualifying festival, The Debutante is now eligible for the Academy Awards Animated Short Film category in 2023.

You can find all of the winning films here.

Screenings later in the year include: Ottawa International Animation Festival, AnimaSyros Festival, DOK Leipzig, and the BFI London Film Festival.

The Debutante is a film by Elizabeth Hobbs, produced by Animate Projects, with the support of the BFI, awarding funds from the National Lottery, and with thanks to the Estate of Leonora Carrington.
