Animate Projects seeks a Project Manager to work with us to deliver WORK Records, an ambitious, community focused and engaged project, exploring, and developing resources, including three animated films, in response to, three heritage collections across the East Midlands, and a public engagement programme.
Location: Remote working, with travel across the East Midlands
Contract: 0.6 FTE, worked flexibly
Duration: 18 months, June 2025 – October 2026
Salary: £30k pro rata
Annual Leave: 28 days plus Bank Holidays, pro rata

Person specification
- Experience of working to engage diverse communities in a contemporary heritage and/or visual arts/museum context
- Experience of project management and delivery of community focused and engaged heritage and/or arts projects, working with a range of partners and stakeholders
- A passion for social history
- Strong communication skills with excellent verbal and writing skills and strong attention to detail
- Proven administrative and organisation skills and ability to work to tight deadlines
- Experience of managing budgets
- Confidence with using Excel spreadsheets and Google Sheets, Word documents, and email
- Meticulous attention to detail with strong organisational skills.
- Ability to work remotely, including access to reliable WIFI for regular online meetings
- Ambitious, resilient, flexible, and creative
- Confident in working with Microsoft Office software, Google Sheets, email, and online file management systems
- Professional experience in online content creation for social media and websites
- A commitment to access and inclusion
Key tasks/Responsibilities
You will:
- Work closely with the Animate team, our heritage collection and arts partners, a project historian, and artist facilitators, other partners (including University of Derby), volunteers, community groups and engagement programme partners.
- Develop, lead, coordinate and facilitate the WORK Records project community, and work closely with the artist facilitators to support the work of the three ‘investigative’ teams.
- Contribute to the development, and coordinate delivery, of the public engagement programme, including in person and online events, resources and other materials.
- Contribute to the development of the marketing and communications plan.
- Contribute to evaluation and reporting.
- Maintain clear financial and project administration systems to enable effective communications across the team and efficient reporting
- Support marketing and promotional activity, including contributing to the development of marketing plans, and writing website and promotional copy
- Attending events, meetings and functions, representing the company as required, as deemed appropriate by the directors
- Ensure all work is delivered in line with Animate’s policies and procedures, including Environmental Sustainability and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
