Call for artists: Place Setting

We’re excited to be working with British Ceramics Biennial on a new project – Place Setting – that starts from ideas of ceramics as making, and of animation as something that is made and crafted, whether physically or digitally. We want to explore the respective, literal processes and materials of making, and the central and cultural importance of the artist and maker.

We’re inviting expressions of interest from artists to research and develop ideas for a residency/film commission, engaging pottery workers and/or former workers in the process, and producing a film for exhibition as part of the British Ceramics Biennial 2023, for festivals, and online.

In this R&D stage, we will work with an artist to develop a proposal, including identifying potential partners in the Potteries and facilitating initial conversations. There’s a fee of £1,000 plus some travel expenses for the R&D. The deadline is noon, Monday, 25 April 2022. Details and submission at Curator Space here.

Place Setting R&D is supported using public funding from the National Lottery by Arts Council England.
